The Coming of Christ
 - The Coming of Christ - On the day of the Lord’s return, a day that can not be predicted, there will be many significant signs to notify us that this is the day.  The moon will fall from the sky, as will the stars.  The sun will be gone and we will know that this is the coming of the Lord.  There will be flashes of lightning across the sky, from the east to the west horizons. (Matthew 24:27)  Then there will be the loud sound of a trumpet and Jesus will appear in the glory of his Father with all the angels of heaven. (Matthew 24:31, 16:27)  At this point, all of God’s children that have died, will rise from their graves. (I Thessalonians 4:16)  After that, “we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (I Thessalonians 4:17)  This means that after the dead have risen, we will meet them in the sky then together we will meet the Lord to spend eternity with him.  We are looking forward to this day.

 - The Disaster - After Christ has returned and claimed his chosen, he will take them to heaven to spend eternity there.  Then will come the day that the world knows as Armageddon, a Hebrew word meaning “world-war” or the end of the world.  Now it will be every country for itself.  “Nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” (Matthew 14:7)  There will be earthquakes, storms, and natural disasters we have never known before.  These disasters will only be “the beginning of sorrows.” (Matthew 24:8)  There will be no place for those in darkness to run to.  These disasters will be worse than the flood of Noah’s day.

 - Afterwards - After the world has been destroyed, God’s chosen will be living with him in heaven.  In heaven they will meet with those who we knew on Earth and will be rejoicing for all eternity.  For them, 1000 years will be as a day.  Then those who refused God will be spending eternity in hell with Satan.  For them, every day will be as 1000 years.

 - What We Are to Do - The Bible lists several things that we are to do when the Lord returns:
 - “Take heed that no man deceive you.  For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” (Matthew 24:4-5)  Do not be deceived.
 - “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13)  If you keep true until the end, you will be saved.
 - “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour you Lord doth come.” (Matthew 24:42)  Watch because we do not know when he will come.
 - “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” (I Thessalonians 5:6)  We do not want to be spiritually asleep as other will be, but we need to be awake and watching.
 - “But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.” (I Thessalonians 5:8)  We, the children of light, need to be putting on the armor of God: a breastplate of faith and love and a helmet of hope of salvation.
 - “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” (I Thessalonians 5:11)  Until the Lord returns, we need to help each other, comfort each other, and just be there for each other as we already are.  We know we can not make it on out own.  We need each other and we need God.
 - “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever following that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.” (I Thessalonians 5:15)  Make sure that no one does evil unto someone else.  Be doing things that are beneficial for you and for everyone else.
 - “Rejoice evermore.” (I Thessalonians 5:16)  Rejoice and be joyful in the Lord forever.
 - “Pray without ceasing.” (I Thessalonians 5:17)  Keep on praying.
 - “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (I Thessalonians 5:18)  Give thanks to God for everything, no matter what might happen.
 - “Quench not the Spirit.” (I Thessalonians 5:19)  Do not smother the Holy Spirit from your life.
 - “Despise not prophesyings.” (I Thessalonians 5:20)  Do not ridicule those who prophesy.
 - “Prove all things; hold fast to that which is good.” (I Thessalonians 5:21)  Test everything that is said to make sure it is true and if it is, accept it.
 - “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (I Thessalonians 5:22)  Keep away from every kind of evil.
 - “Brethren, pray for us.” (I Thessalonians 5:25)  Pray for the servants or workers.
