Drinking From My Saucer
I've never made a fortune
and it's probably too late now
But I don't worry about that much
I'm happy anyhow

And as I go along life's way
I'm reaping better than I sow
I'm drinking from my saucer
'Cause my cup has overflowed
Haven't got a lot of riches
and sometimes the going's tough
But I've got loving ones around me

I thank God for his blessings
And the mercies He's bestowed
I'm drinking from my saucer
'cause my cup has overflowed

O, Remember times when things went wrong
My faith wore somewhat thin
But all at once the dark clouds broke
and sun peeped through again

So Lord, help me not to gripe
about the tough rows that I've hoed
I'm drinking from my saucer
'Cause my cup has overflowed

If God gives me strength and courage
When the way grows steep and rough
I'll not ask for other blessings
I'm already blessed enough

And may I never be too busy
to help others bear their loads
Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer
'Cause my cup has overflowed

Forgive
I found a little remedy
To ease the life we live,
And make each day a happy one,
It is the word "forgive".

So many little things come to us
That leaves a pain or sting;
That if covered up at once
Would not amount to anything.

'Tis when we hold them up to view
And brood and sulk and fret,
They greater grow before our eyes,
'Twere better to forget.

So when you seek your bed at night,
'Ere yet your eyelids close;
Lay all your problems, doubts & 'counts
Before the One who knows.

And wait a verdict of the One
Who knows just why we live;
And hear the blessed words of Jesus;
"Forgive as I forgive."

Friends
Many people will walk in and out of your life,
but only true friends will leave footprints in our heart.
To handle yourself, use your head;
To handle others, use your heart.
Anger is only one letter short of danger.
If someone betrays you once, it's his fault;
If he betrays you twice, it's your fault.
Great minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.
God gives every bird it's food,
But He does not throw it into it's nest.
He who loses money, loses much;
He who loses a friend, loses more;
He who loses faith, loses all.
Beautiful young people are acts of nature,
But beautiful old people are works of art.
Learn from the mistakes of others.
You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.
The tongue weighs practically nothing,
But so few people can hold it.
Friends, you and me....
you brought another friend...
and then there were 3...
we started our group...
Our circle of friends...
and like that circle...
there is no beginning or end...

God's Calling
Moses said he was "slow of speech."
Jeremiah said he was "too young."
Amos said, "I am no prophet."
Mary said, "How can this be?"
Peter said, "I am a sinful man."
The centurion said, "he was not worthy."
Paul said, "I know nothing good lives in me."

Today is our turn.  God calls.
He doesn't ask if we are suitable...
He only asks "if we are available."

God's Love
We can talk an hour about it, but not have it.
No vessel can contain it all.
No tongue can explain it all.
For it is only explained by living it
    and retained by giving it.
When we share it, then we have
    more than we had before.
Withhold it and we have less.
It has no competitors or equals.
    Death cannot claim it.
    But only proclaim it.
Persecution only brings it to the surface.
It turns every experience into a privilege.
    It works best under pressure.
It has no faults and no failures.
It can turn every living sacrifice into a
    reasonable service.
It has been cradled in a manger, crucified on
a cross, resurrected from a tomb,
    and carried into Heaven.
I admire it in others, I desire it from others,
    I require it for others . . .
But I can only acquire it from God.

I May Never...
I may never see tomorrow; there's no written guarantee,
And things that happened yesterday belong to history,
I cannot predict the future, I cannot change the past,
I have just the present moment, I must treat it as my last,

I must use this moment wisely for it soon will pass away,
and be lost to me forever as part of yesterday,
I must exercise compassion, help the fallen to their feet,
Be a friend unto the friendless, make an empty life complete,

The unkind things I do today may never be undone,
And friendships that I fail to win may nevermore be won,
I may not have another chance on bended knee to pray,
And thank God with humble heart for giving me this day.

Life Is
Life is an opportunity; benefit from it.
Life is a beauty; admire it.
Life is a dream; realize it.
Life is a challenge; meet it.
Life is a duty; complete it.
Life is a game; play it.
Life is a promise; fulfil it.
Life is sorrow; overcome it.
Life is a song; sing it.
Life is a struggle; accept it.
Life is a tragedy; confront it.
Life is an adventure; dare it.
Life is luck; make it.
Life is life; fight for it!

Mother Teresa

No Time
I knelt to pray but not for long,
had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time"

Reaching Out
"Our lives shall touch a thousand lives
Before this year is done;
Leave countless marks for good or ill,
"Ere sets the setting sun.
So this the wish we all should wish,
The prayer we all should pray;
Lord may our lives help other lives
We touch upon the way.......

Slow Dance
Have you ever watched kids
on a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain
slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Do you run through each day
on the fly
When you ask "How are you?"
do you hear the reply?

When the day is done,
do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
running through your head?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste,
not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time
To call and say "hi"

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away...

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over...

Untitled #1
Out of this life I shall never take
The things of silver and gold I make.
All that I cherish and hoard away
After I die, on earth must stay

Though I have toiled for a painting rare
To hang on my wall I must leave it there
Though I call it mine and boast of its worth
I must leave it behind when I quit the earth.

All that I cherish and all that I keep
I must leave behind when I fall asleep.
I wondered oft what I shall own
In that other life where I pass alone.

Will the Great Judge learn when my life is through
That my soul has gathered some riches too?
Or shall it be mine at the last to find
That all I have lived for I have left behind.

Untitled #2
If I could catch a rainbow...
I would do it just for you

And share with you its beauty
On the days you're feeling blue...

If I could build a mountain...
You could call it your very own

A place to find serenity,
A place to be alone...

If I could take your troubles,
I would toss them in the sea...

But all these things I'm finding,
Are impossible for me

I cannot build a mountain,
Or catch a rainbow fair

But let me be what I know best:
A friend that's, always there.

Written in Sand
If unkind words and cruel thoughts
And faults of those you trust
Are troubling you, my friend, sit down
And write them in the dust.

If injured by a hasty tongue,
Before you raise your hand
To point a finger at some friend,
Just write it in the sand.

The faults of others you'll forget
And friends are yours to trust
If only you'll remember this
To write them in the dust!!
